Euronews reports on Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan amid normalization with Armenia
The Euronews television channel devoted a story to September 27 – Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan.
The publication notes that on the sixth anniversary of the start of the 44-day war of 2020, Azerbaijan honors the memory of the service members who died during the hostilities.
Euronews emphasizes that six years later, relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia are developing amid an ongoing normalization process that encompasses trade, transportation, telecommunications, and interaction between civil societies.
The channel recalls that after the end of the war, the sides gradually moved on to discussing issues of the border, the normalization of relations, and the unblocking of regional transportation links.
Euronews cites the resumption of rail transportation after Azerbaijan lifted transit restrictions at the end of 2025 and the start of direct deliveries to Armenia as one of the most notable results of this process.
According to the State Customs Service of Azerbaijan, in January-August 2026 the volume of direct exports to Armenia exceeded $17 million. The deliveries included about 17,000 tons of diesel fuel and approximately 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline.
The political framework of the normalization process was outlined at a meeting in Washington on August 8, 2025, attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Following the meeting, the sides signed a joint declaration related to the preparation of a comprehensive peace agreement.
A separate area of cooperation involves the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project, which is to provide transportation links between the main territory of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through the territory of Armenia.
As Euronews notes, Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan is taking place against the backdrop of continuing regional normalization and the expansion of economic and transportation ties.
