On October 1, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev met with a delegation of the Working Party of the Council of the European Union on Eastern Europe and Central Asia (COEST), which is on a visit to our country.

The meeting discussed the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, partnership priorities, negotiations on a new bilateral agreement, energy and transport connectivity, climate cooperation, as well as regional issues.

The deputy minister spoke about the recent intensification of high-level contacts between Azerbaijan and the EU, and the expansion of cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and connectivity. Emphasizing the growing importance of the Middle Corridor, he provided information about the work carried out by Azerbaijan in the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the Baku port and the projects being implemented in the territories liberated from occupation.

Touching upon energy cooperation, he brought to attention Azerbaijan's contribution to Europe's energy security, the prospects for expanding natural gas supplies, as well as the projects being implemented in the field of renewable energy sources.

During the exchange of views on the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, information was provided on the progress achieved in the period since the Washington summit, our country's peace agenda, and the steps being taken to strengthen confidence.

Numerous questions from the delegation were answered at the meeting.
