On March 4, the latest meeting of the Organizing Committee, established in connection with the organization of the thirteenth session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), took place.

As reported by AZERTAC, opening the meeting, the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Samir Nuriyev, emphasized that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has identified urban development as one of the key strategic priorities in the state's socio-economic policy. He noted that the declaration of 2026 as the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture" in our country is further confirmation of the importance attached to this field.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee stated that the consistent and targeted measures implemented under the leadership of our head of state to ensure balanced development of the capital and regions, as well as to promote sustainable settlement, play a significant role in the comprehensive development of the country.

Samir Nuriyev highlighted that Azerbaijan, as a country that keeps global urban development processes at the forefront, proposes innovative approaches in this area and successfully applies them in practice. He stressed that the most vivid evidence of this is the large-scale restoration and construction process in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, which, in terms of its scale, scope, and pace, is one of the rare examples on a global level. He also stated that the upcoming thirteenth session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku in May 2026, which has already generated significant international interest, serves as a platform to present Azerbaijan's conceptual approach to urban development on the international stage, including the practical experience applied in the territories liberated from occupation.

Subsequently, reports from members of the Organizing Committee were heard regarding the current state of preparations for WUF13, the work done on substantive issues, communication, organizational and logistical aspects, as well as other matters included in the agenda.

In conclusion, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, based on the tasks set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to organize WUF13 at a high level, gave the meeting participants relevant instructions to ensure a higher quality, timely, and comprehensive approach to all activities.
