Ilham Aliyev: Dishonorable People Who Committed This Terrorist Act Against Us Will Regret It
President Ilham Aliyev accused Iran of ingratitude towards Azerbaijan.
He made this statement during a Security Council meeting on Thursday regarding Iran's drone strike on Nakhchivan.
"This terrorist act they committed, along with all other vile factors, is an example of great ingratitude. As soon as the recent events [the death of Khamenei] occurred, we sent them a message and expressed our condolences. The Foreign Minister, on my instructions, spoke with his counterpart. I expressed my position to visit their embassy and offer condolences. Despite the fact that no other head of state besides me visited any Iranian embassy. To not appreciate this, to trample it underfoot, to behave like lowly ungrateful people—this does no one any honor," said the head of state.
He promised that "these dishonorable people who committed this terrorist act against us will regret it."
"Let them not test our strength. The heads of those who tried to test our strength were crushed by the 'Iron Fist.' Today's event will lead to the same result. Therefore, a plan of measures must be prepared on this issue. All instructions have been given. The Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a note of protest will be handed over, and other diplomatic steps will be taken. Appropriate instructions have been given regarding the borders," Ilham Aliyev noted.
