MFA: Since 2020, 72 Azerbaijanis Have Died in Mine Incidents
Since the end of the 44-day war in Azerbaijan (the second Karabakh war, September 27 - November 9, 2020), 419 people have become victims of mines in Azerbaijan, of whom 72 have died.
As reported by 1news.az citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, 347 of the victims sustained severe injuries.
The Ministry also addressed the death of a citizen in a mine incident that occurred on March 12:
"Mines continue to pose a serious threat to civilians and hinder the safe return of former internally displaced persons, as well as ongoing reconstruction efforts. Azerbaijan is committed to demining efforts to ensure the safe and sustainable return of Azerbaijani citizens to the liberated territories and expects the support of international partners by joining forces in this direction."
