In Baku, both daily and monthly precipitation records have been updated
In Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula, intense rain continues.
As reported by 1news.az with reference to the National Hydrometeorological Service, as of 13:00 on March 28, the heavy nature of precipitation persists in the capital.
It is noted that over the past 100 years, the maximum amount of precipitation in a single day was previously recorded on March 21, 1988 — 36.8 mm, which accounted for 156% of the monthly norm. However, on March 27 of this year, 120 mm of precipitation fell in a single day, corresponding to 508% of the monthly norm.
Regarding monthly figures, in March 1988, a total of 83 mm of precipitation fell in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula (352% of the norm). For the first 27 days of March 2026, this figure has already reached 128 mm, which is 542% of the monthly norm.
Thus, both daily and monthly precipitation records have been updated.
