Erdogan welcomes ceasefire between U.S. and Iran
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has welcomed the agreement between the U.S. and Iran on a two-week ceasefire.
In a social media post, the Turkish leader stated that Ankara is pleased with the announced ceasefire in a war that has turned the region into an 'arena of fire' since February 28.
'We hope that the truce will be fully observed on the ground and that no pretexts for provocations or sabotage will be allowed,' the Turkish president's post noted.
The head of the Turkish state expressed gratitude to all parties who played a role in reaching the ceasefire agreement, emphasizing the 'decisive role of friendly and brotherly Pakistan.'
Erdogan stressed that the region in which Turkey is located needs peace and stability. 'We sincerely wish for our region, which has suffered greatly from wars, conflicts, and tensions, to achieve peace, tranquility, and stability as soon as possible. Turkey will continue to advocate for peace in the region and throughout the world,' he concluded.
