Italy suspends automatic renewal of defense agreement with Israel
The Italian authorities have suspended the automatic renewal of the defense agreement with Israel.
This was announced by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
"Given the current situation, the government has decided to suspend the automatic renewal of the defense agreement with Israel," she said upon arriving at the international wine fair Vinitaly in Verona.
Meloni also noted that "the international situation requires continued efforts to promote peace negotiations, to make every possible effort to stabilize the situation and to open the Strait of Hormuz," which is of fundamental importance for Italy as well. "Not only in terms of [supplies of] fuel, but also fertilizers," the Italian Prime Minister explained.
