Meeting of President Ilham Aliyev with the President of Syria for the transitional period held in Antalya - PHOTO

On April 17, a meeting took place in Antalya between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Syrian Arab Republic for the transitional period Ahmed al-Sharaa.

As reported by AZERTAC, during the conversation, both sides expressed satisfaction with the meetings between President Ilham Aliyev and Ahmed al-Sharaa during the latter's visit to Azerbaijan last year, as well as within the framework of the 4th Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

It was emphasized that following the changes in Syria, concrete steps have been taken to develop relations between our countries.

The importance of cooperation in the energy sector was discussed, with particular note of the significance of implementing the project for exporting Azerbaijani gas to Syria through Turkish territory, the project's contribution to Syria's energy security, and the overall development of the country.

Ahmed al-Sharaa once again expressed his gratitude to the head of our state for the support provided by Azerbaijan to Syria.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the prospects for bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest, and the role of mutual visits and contacts at various levels in the development of relations was addressed.

During the conversation, concern was expressed about the tension in the region, and the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means was underscored.

The head of our state invited Ahmed al-Sharaa to visit Azerbaijan.

The invitation was accepted with satisfaction.
