German fan dies near stadium on opening day of World Cup - VIDEO

A German fan died near Azteca Stadium during the opening match of the 2026 World Cup between the Mexico and South Africa teams (2:0).

Preliminary reports indicate that the fan suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the National Institute of Cardiology, where his death was confirmed.

The 2026 World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19. Forty-eight teams will participate in the tournament, divided into 12 groups of four teams each. The three host countries (the United States, Canada, Mexico) received automatic qualification, the remaining teams qualified through selection.
