Ukrainian fighter Daniil Donchenko scores early victory at UFC tournament in Baku
Today the international UFC Fight Night tournament kicked off at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.
As 1news.az correspondent reports, another preliminary-card bout concluded as part of the sports show. In the octagon at welterweight (up to 77.1 kg), Ukrainian fighter Daniil Donchenko and Swede Theodor Berggren faced off third.
Berggren focused on working as the first fighter, trying to pressure his opponent and keep him at long range. The Ukrainian, in turn, did not force the action and periodically fired back in counterattacks. In the second round Daniil landed a powerful high kick to his opponent’s head, rushed in to finish and forced the referee to stop the fight.
Recall that this is already the third victory for a representative of Ukraine under the UFC banner.
