Minister: UFC and Formula 1 important for tourism development in Azerbaijan
More than 3,000 fans from abroad came to the second Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in Baku.
As Report reports, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gaibov told journalists about this.
He recalled that the UFC tournament was held in Baku for the first time last year.
"This year, the second competition was organized. We signed a three-year contract with UFC. I think the second tournament was also interesting. More than 3,000 fans came from abroad. The tournament was also in the center of attention of Azerbaijani fans. UFC and Formula 1 are also important from the point of view of tourism development."
It should be noted that the UFC Fight Night Baku tournament took place on June 27. From the representatives of Azerbaijan, Tahir Abdullaev defeated Brazilian Jefferson Nascimento, and Farman Gasanov defeated Eric Nolan from the USA. Nazim Sadykhov lost to Mateus Camilo (Brazil). Rafael Fiziev won the main fight of the evening over Mexican Manuel Torres.
