Germany national team coach Nagelsmann resigns after World Cup failure
Germany national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann has resigned after being eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports this on his X social media page.
On July 2, the 38-year-old Nagelsmann met with the leadership of the German Football Association (DFB), where he was recommended to leave his position. The specialist decided to leave the national team, although he initially said he was not going to do so.
The main candidate for the position of head coach of the national team is Jurgen Klopp.
It is noted that he is ready to take charge of the national team if the DFB offers him the job.
On June 29, the German national team lost to Paraguay in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup and was eliminated from the tournament.
Regular and extra time ended 1-1, and Paraguay prevailed in the penalty shootout.
