Moninder Singh: Shusha forum unites voices of minorities - VIDEO
The Shusha Forum unites the voices of minorities and allows them to convey their voice to the world.
Moninder Singh, chairman of the Sikh Federation and participant in the IV Shusha Global Media Forum, stated this to 1news.az.
M. Singh gave an exceptionally high assessment of the organization of the event, emphasizing its unique role as an international platform.
"The forum is going absolutely wonderfully. In the era of digital media, the majority of narratives are created at the state level. Therefore, for us, representatives of Punjab, which is experiencing Indian control — in many ways just as Azerbaijan suffered from occupation for decades — it was truly gratifying to see like-minded people and representatives of various communities from Africa, South America, and other parts of the planet here. We had the opportunity to openly discuss the struggle and problems of each of our regions," the federation chairman stated.
He also noted the importance of the discussions held with the participation of the President of Azerbaijan, during which tectonic changes in world politics and economics that directly affect the position of minorities around the world were discussed.
"For the Sikh people, striving for their freedom in the form of Khalistan, this region has strategic importance. We are connected by deep natural ties with the Azerbaijani people and this land. Participation in the Shusha Media Forum gave us a clear understanding of how to effectively use media tools in the digital age. But most importantly — how to ensure that the media remain honest, transparent, do not follow clickbait business models, do not lead to the polarization of society, and help people emerge from information bubbles," Moninder Singh summarized.
