Katz on Gaza: 'It's nice to see the destruction'
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz made controversial statements during a tour of Gaza with army commanders.
Katz stated that "it's nice to see the destruction" in Gaza, and confirmed that 65% of the region is occupied.
During the tour, Katz gave an interview to Channel 14. When asked "what he feels looking at the destroyed landscape of Gaza," he replied: "(Seeing the destruction in Gaza) It's nice, isn't it? This is the result of a deliberate policy aimed at eliminating threats," emphasizing that the Israeli army occupies the region and all houses are destroyed.
Katz also acknowledged the intention to seize land in the northern Gaza Strip to create a permanent Jewish presence. He claimed that, as before, they plan to seize Palestinian lands in the region and create three "Nahal" military facilities, which is important from a security perspective.
