Armenian authorities intend to abolish the position of governor
The Armenian authorities intend to dissolve the regional administrations and abolish the position of governor, writes the newspaper Zhokhovurd.
According to the publication, a new management model is already being discussed: instead of an inflated regional administration, an optimized government representative office with limited functions will operate.
In the executive branch, there are increasingly talks that regional administrations no longer perform the functions that would justify maintaining these structures with a large staff, the publication says.
The newspaper recalls that in recent years, regional administrations have been stripped of a number of functions related to healthcare, education, and social issues.
According to the publication, governors have concerns that they are only temporarily holding their positions.
