Azerbaijan judo federation punishes Hidayat Heydarov for weight problems
Azerbaijani judoka, Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov has been punished after failing to meet the declared weight category at two competitions.
As Report reports, this was stated by executive vice president of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Rashad Rasullu at a press conference.
According to him, this year Hidayat Heydarov was not allowed to participate in two tournaments due to non-compliance with the weight category.
"Our rules are the same for everyone. For each violation, disciplinary measures are provided - a monetary fine, suspension from training or from the preparation process. At the same time, mitigating circumstances are taken into account. If the athlete admits his mistake, this is also taken into account. Discipline is of fundamental importance to us. We found out the reason why Hidayat could not make the weight category, and together with him we are working on solving this problem. In both cases, Hidayat Heydarov was punished, but we do not want to disclose the details. At the same time, perhaps the most severe punishment he assigned to himself. We have no doubt that Hidayat will become a two-time Olympic champion," said Rasullu.
