Kazakhstan and China sign more than 70 agreements worth $15 billion

As part of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's working visit to Shanghai, a ceremony for the exchange of signed commercial documents took place during a roundtable with heads of major Chinese high-tech companies.

During the head of state's working visit to China, more than 70 commercial agreements were signed for a total amount exceeding $15 billion, Kazakh media report.

The agreements cover the spheres of artificial intelligence, digitalization, transport infrastructure, finance, the agro-industrial complex, mechanical engineering, and other high-tech industries.

Among the key documents is a strategic partnership agreement between Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and Huawei Technologies. Huawei also signed an agreement with Samruk-Kazyna JSC on the acquisition of technological solutions and equipment.

Another memorandum concerns the development of electric vehicle infrastructure and the application of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan's automotive industry. It was signed by Samruk-Kazyna JSC, Freedom Holding Corp, the Akimat of Astana, and Geely Auto Group.

In the automotive sector, agreements were also signed on the production of Li Auto vehicles in Kazakhstan, as well as a technical licensing agreement for the production of OMODA and JAECOO vehicles at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan plant.

A separate block of documents relates to transport and logistics. In particular, an investment agreement was signed for the construction of the first phase of a multifunctional terminal at the Kuryk port. The parties also agreed to cooperate on the Kazakhstan-China international logistics corridor project.

In industry, Qarmet JSC, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, and China's Acre Coking & Refractory Engineering Consulting Corporation concluded an agreement on long-term strategic cooperation for the construction of coke batteries No. 8 and No. 9 and a coke oven gas purification system.

In the field of digital infrastructure, Kazakhtelecom JSC and HV & Submarine Hengtong Group signed an agreement on the basic principles of cooperation in the development of the "Data Center Valley."

Documents were also signed on the development of artificial intelligence and robotics. These include an agreement between Qazbot Technologies and Agibot PTE, a memorandum between Qazaq AI Research University and Shanghai Innovation Institute, and an agreement on cooperation in the field of AI and robotics in Almaty involving the city akimat, NERO Group, and UBTECH Robotics.

In addition, agreements were signed in the financial sphere, on equipping border checkpoints with inspection equipment, industrial localization, the construction of antenna-mast structures, and other areas.
