Fidan: Turkey will support all initiatives for the return of Russia and Ukraine to negotiations

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, following his visit to Kyiv, reiterated his country's readiness to support initiatives for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

"As Turkey, we are ready to support any initiative that will bring the parties back to the negotiating table and contribute to the establishment of a lasting peace," the minister wrote on X. He also said that he discussed "the current situation in the Russian-Ukrainian" conflict, in addition to Andriy Sybiha, who was acting head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, with other representatives of the country's top leadership.

Speaking about bilateral relations, he called "an important milestone the approval by the Ukrainian parliament of the Free Trade Agreement [with Turkey], which will create new opportunities for businessmen and raise economic partnership to a much higher level."

Fidan visited Ukraine on July 15-16. One of the goals of the visit was to clarify Kyiv's position regarding the prospects for resolving the conflict.
