Venezuela receives IMF funding for recovery after earthquake

Venezuelan authorities have gained access to their own funds at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) totaling $346 million, which will be directed toward eliminating the consequences of the devastating earthquake.

This was reported by Venezuelan presidential commissioner Delcy Rodriguez in her Telegram channel.

According to her, the funds will be used to provide assistance to affected families, restore housing, repair critical infrastructure facilities, and resume the operation of basic utilities.

Rodriguez also thanked IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva for her support.

Recall that the devastating earthquake occurred in Venezuela on June 24. According to the latest data, 5,069 people died, another 16,740 were injured. 17,907 people were left homeless, 190 buildings were completely destroyed, and another 856 suffered serious damage. After the main earthquake, 1,331 aftershocks were recorded.
