Warnings issued in 39 Japanese prefectures due to abnormal heat

In Japan, a new wave of extreme heat is expected.

According to the national meteorological service, high temperatures will cover a vast area of the country on Monday - from the northeastern Tohoku region to Kyushu Island in the southwest. In this regard, residents are urged to take precautions to prevent heatstroke.

Forecasters predict that the highest air temperature will be recorded in Saitama city, where thermometers will rise to 38 degrees Celsius. Up to 37 degrees is expected in Nagoya, Kyoto, Maebashi, Kofu, Gifu, and Fukui. In central Tokyo districts, as well as in Fukushima, Okayama, and Takamatsu, the air will warm up to about 36 degrees.

Due to the abnormal heat, heatstroke risk warnings have already been issued in 39 out of 47 Japanese prefectures. They cover a significant part of the country, from the Tohoku region to Okinawa Prefecture.

According to meteorologists' forecasts, extremely high temperatures will persist throughout the week. In some areas, including the Tokai region, by Wednesday and Thursday the air temperature may exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

Special attention is recommended for elderly people; Japanese are asked to contact older relatives and remind them of the need to use air conditioners, maintain hydration, and avoid overheating the body.
