Teen dies in Spain during celebration of World Cup victory
A teenager died in Spain during the celebration of the national team's victory in the final of the World Cup.
The tragedy occurred in the settlement of Ciudad Rodrigo (autonomous community of Castile and Leon).
According to a publication by the local city hall on its Facebook page, the authorities express "condolences over the death of a 13-year-old boy." "What was supposed to be a celebration of the Spanish national team's victory at the World Cup turned into a tragedy for the entire" municipality, the city hall added.
According to the newspaper El País, young people were inside a fountain celebrating the victory when part of the structure collapsed. Police officers tried to help the boy, but as a result he died from his injuries. Two more people were injured.
On July 19 in East Rutherford (USA, New Jersey), the final match of the championship took place with the participation of the teams of Argentina and Spain. The Spaniards won with a score of 1:0 in extra time.
