Yerevan considers the issue of extraditing to the States a Russian arrested in Armenia

The issue of extraditing to the United States Alexander Ermakov, arrested in Armenia, is being discussed by the republic's Ministry of Justice, Sputnik Armenia was told at the ministry.

Russian citizen Alexander Ermakov was detained in Armenia at the request of foreign competent authorities as part of an investigation into a computer fraud case. He is being held in the "Vardashen" pretrial detention center.

"The Ministry of Justice is considering the issue of extraditing Alexander Ermakov," the ministry stated.

Earlier, a number of Russian Telegram channels reported that the resident of Omsk has been in one of the Armenian pretrial detention centers for several weeks after being detained at Yerevan airport.

Relatives and the lawyer claim that Ermakov was mistaken for another person — a hacker wanted internationally by Interpol at the request of the U.S., with whom he shares the same first and last name.

At the same time, a source in law enforcement agencies reported that the personal data of the arrested Ermakov fully match those indicated in the wanted person's profile.
