Iran tells how it managed to bypass US naval blockade

Iran was able to avoid the consequences of the naval blockade because it was able to redirect shipments of goods through Russia and the Caspian Sea.

This was stated by the deputy minister of agriculture of the Islamic Republic, Mohammad Reza Talaei.

“By changing the route from the Indian Ocean to routes through Russia and the Caspian Sea, we were able to counter the threat of a complete economic blockade,” he said in an interview with the IRNA agency.

According to the deputy minister, more than 30% of all cargo imported into the country passes through Iran's northern ports. First of all, as Talaei emphasized, agricultural crops that ensure the country's food security go through them. He added that the blockade by the US “did not cause disruptions with goods on the domestic market.”
