In DR Congo number of Ebola deaths rises to 967
In five provinces of DR Congo — Upper Uele, Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu and Tshopo — 2,423 confirmed cases of Ebola have been registered to date.
This is stated in a message from the Ministry of Communications and Media of DR Congo.
It is also reported that 734 patients are in isolation or in hospital, 469 people have recovered, and 967 have died. The fatality rate is 39.9%, and the contact tracing rate is 81.1%.
"Measures to combat the disease are being strengthened. Medical teams continue to carry out surveillance, medical care and contact tracing activities to contain the spread of the disease. Capacities in the field of epidemiological surveillance and investigations continue to be strengthened: more than 80% of epidemiological signals are investigated within less than 24 hours," the message said.
