Media: British prime minister Burnham allowed use of bases for US strikes on Iran

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham allowed the US to use British military bases for strikes on Iran, but only those that London considers defensive.

Such data is provided by the Bloomberg agency, citing sources.

This decision was made after a meeting held by former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. During the meeting, ministers agreed to maintain the current policy, which allows Washington to use the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean and RAF Fairford airbase in England for operations countering Iran's missile threat.

The agency's interlocutors claim that Burnham familiarized himself with the results of the meeting and approved the corresponding decisions. This means that British bases may be used at the current stage of the United States' operation against Iran.

It is noted that this decision may cause criticism within Britain, as the opposition believes that allowing another country to use military bases constitutes actual involvement of London in the conflict.
