EU recommended airlines not to fly over Jordan

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recommended that airlines refrain from using Jordan's airspace due to the deteriorating security situation.

The agency noted that the kingdom is increasingly in the flight path of Iranian missiles and drones.

The EASA statement says that since mid-July 2026 the situation in the region "has sharply deteriorated," and military activity affecting Jordan's airspace has increased significantly. In this regard, European air carriers are advised to review their flight routes.

Jordan has become another country in the region over which flights are not recommended for European airlines. Earlier, EASA had already issued similar recommendations regarding the airspace of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon.

The agency's recommendations are aimed at reducing risks to civil aviation amid ongoing military tensions in the Middle East.
