Venezuelan authorities report increase in earthquake death toll
The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela has risen to 5 398 people.
As reported by 1news.az citing foreign media, this was stated by the chairman of the country's National Assembly Jorge Rodriguez.
According to the latest data, 16 740 people were injured, 17 907 residents were left homeless. 190 buildings were completely destroyed, another 856 received serious damage.
During search and rescue operations, 6 462 people were saved. More than 44 thousand victims received medical assistance, over 23 thousand people were placed in temporary camps.
It should be noted that the devastating earthquake occurred in Venezuela on June 24. Two tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded, followed by 1 463 aftershocks.
