What Lavrov and Rubio discussed in the Philippines
Regional and international issues, including ways to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the situation in the Persian Gulf, were discussed during negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held in the Philippine capital Manila, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Lavrov reaffirmed the Russian side’s readiness for a political and diplomatic resolution of the conflict (with Ukraine — ed.) and commitment to the proposals put forward by the American side at the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Anchorage and to which the Russian leader gave his consent,” the ministry emphasized.
Attention was also paid to normalizing the conditions for the functioning of the diplomatic missions of Russia and the United States.
Lavrov and Rubio agreed to continue contacts through the foreign policy agencies, including within the framework of the participation of the two countries in the work of international organizations.
