EU ambassadors approve shortened 21st sanctions package against Russia

EU ambassadors have approved a shortened 21st package of restrictions against Russia without a complete ban on maritime transportation of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG); by the end of the day the restrictive measures will be finally approved by the EU Council.

This was reported to journalists by a diplomatic source in Brussels.

"The ambassadors have agreed on the 21st sanctions package," he said. According to the official, the main operator of LNG maritime transportation in the EU, Greece, "will be able to continue delivering Russian LNG to third countries."

The source noted that "by the end of the day the EU Council will approve this package," after which it will enter into force.
