Omani authorities are working in coordination with Saudi Arabia and the parties to the conflict in Yemen with the aim of resuming the political process in the Arab republic.

This is stated in a statement by the sultanate's foreign ministry.

"The Sultanate of Oman is currently working in coordination with <...> Saudi Arabia, Yemeni representatives and the UN Special Envoy for Yemen [Hans Grundberg] with the aim of resuming the political process and [implementing] a roadmap to ensure security and stability in the region," the text notes.

The ministry also noted that Muscat is closely monitoring the latest developments in the Red Sea. The Foreign Ministry pointed to "the need to avoid escalation and any threats that lead to a worsening of the situation and jeopardize freedom of navigation."

Earlier, the Houthis from the Yemeni rebel movement "Ansar Allah" announced strikes using missiles and drones on two Saudi oil tankers in response to a violation of the maritime blockade of the kingdom announced by the rebels. Saudi authorities confirmed the strike on the tanker Encelia, noting that all crew members are safe.
