Former world champion boxer Tim Tszyu defeats Errol Spence

Son of former undisputed world champion Kostya Tszyu, Tim Tszyu defeated former three-time world champion American Errol Spence.

The 12-round fight in the interim weight category up to 72.5 kg, held in Sydney, ended with Tszyu's victory by judges' decision.

Initially, the fight was supposed to take place in the interim category up to 71.6 kg, but Spence did not make weight and asked the organizers to increase the limit. All judges gave the victory to Tszyu with a large advantage - 118:110, 117:111, 117:111.

Before the fight, questions were raised about how the three-year break affected Spence's condition, who was one of the best boxers in the world in the weight category up to 66.68 kg and stopped one step away from the title of undisputed world champion. Already in the first round, it was noticeable that the American entered the ring not in the best shape, and the best years of his career are behind him. He was slow, sluggish, with poor reaction, and at the end of the round he staggered from a blow and almost fell. Tszyu failed to capitalize on this moment, but later he had a greater advantage and left no doubt about his superiority. Spence was more active, but Tszyu hit more accurately and harder. At the same time, Tszyu himself did not appear in optimal form, but this was enough for a confident victory over the American.

Tszyu, now 31 years old, has 28 wins (18 by knockout), 3 losses. He secured his fourth victory in his last seven fights.

Tszyu, who was born in Australia two years after his parents moved in 1992, made his professional debut on December 17, 2016. He also holds titles as champion of Australia and Asia according to the IBF, Australia, continental Asia according to the WBC, Asia-Pacific champion according to the WBO, interim title of Oceania champion according to the World Boxing Association (WBA), Commonwealth champion, global and intercontinental belts of the WBO.
