Araghchi tells Lavrov of Iran's right to respond to Ukraine
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated during a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Tehran reserves the right to respond to Kyiv for the strike on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea.
This was stated by the ambassador of the Islamic Republic to Russia, Kazem Jalali.
"Yesterday, a telephone conversation took place between Araghchi and Lavrov, which was largely devoted to this topic. The head of our Foreign Ministry emphasized that Iran retains the inalienable right to respond," the diplomat said.
On July 26, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Lavrov and Araghchi discussed the situation surrounding Kyiv's attack on the Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea during their conversation. The head of the Russian foreign policy department expressed condolences over the death of the Iranian sailor, and his Iranian counterpart "emphasized the need to stop the adventures of the Kyiv regime."
On July 25, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Ukraine struck an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, resulting in the death of a crew member.
