Saudi Arabia urged the U.S. to refrain from strikes on the Houthis
Saudi Arabia's Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, during a meeting with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, urged Washington to refrain from strikes on the Houthis, the Reuters agency reports, citing sources.
Axios earlier reported that Prince Khalid discussed with Vance the escalation in the Middle East following recent strikes by U.S.-Saudi forces on Iraq.
"After the joint attacks, Saudi Arabia's defense minister met on Wednesday in Washington with Vice President JD Vance to urge the Trump administration not to escalate the conflict further by attacking Yemen's Houthis," the agency writes, citing two unnamed sources.
Earlier, the Houthis said they were imposing a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia in response to its control of Yemen's airspace and its ports. On Wednesday, they announced an attack on two Saudi tankers in the Red Sea.
