In Germany, nearly ten thousand people have died because of the heat
The heat claimed the lives of nearly 10,000 people in Germany in 2026, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which is part of Germany's Health Ministry.
"As of July 19, the estimated number of deaths related to the effects of the heat in Germany stands at 9,800," the institute said in a statement on its website.
As the RKI explained, this is the highest figure since 2016.
