Trump announces agreement reached on complete disarmament of Hamas
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that an agreement has been reached on the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in the Gaza Strip.
"Today, the Board of Peace reached a historic agreement on the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza," Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.
He noted that this is "an important step on the path to lasting peace and security."
"This agreement is an important step toward Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people," Trump added.
According to the American leader, upon completion of Hamas's disarmament, Israeli troops will be withdrawn, and "the international stabilization forces will cooperate with the new Palestinian police to take responsibility for ensuring the security of the residents of Gaza and its neighbors."
Trump thanked the mediators — Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey — for their efforts, as well as his team, which "made this historic breakthrough possible."
