Iran says Ukrainian armed forces' strike on vessel in the Caspian Sea was deliberate
Tehran has evidence that the strike by Ukraine's armed forces on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea was deliberate, despite Kyiv's assurances.
This was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei.
"According to Ukrainian officials, this incident was unintentional, but the available evidence indicates that the attack was deliberate," Baghaei said during a weekly briefing. According to him, Tehran will take all necessary measures to ensure that Ukraine answers for its actions and that such incidents do not happen again.
On July 25, Iran's Foreign Ministry reported that Ukraine had struck its vessel in the Caspian Sea in Russia's territorial waters, killing a crew member. Later, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha that Kyiv must compensate for the damage caused to the Iranian vessel.
