Russia has suspended sales of water and carbonated beverages from Armenia

The operator of the state labeling system "Chestny Znak," CRPT, acting on instructions from Rospotrebnadzor, has blocked more than 70,000 bottles of drinking water and carbonated beverages from Armenia, the organization told Kommersant.

The decision was made because manufacturers violated mandatory product requirements.

The restrictions cover the mineral medicinal table drinking water "BZHNI" (BJNI), produced at the "RRR" mineral water plant, as well as the natural drinking water "Prosto Azbuka," including the children's version, from the Armenian company "VATERLOK," and the non-alcoholic Mojito of the DARBAS trademark (LLC "Arsen ev Nerses").

"At the moment, the sale of the batches specified by Rospotrebnadzor is prohibited in retail and online channels until all necessary inspections are completed. The labeling system is integrated with every cash register in the country, which makes it possible to instantly ensure a consumer protection mechanism," commented CRPT Deputy General Director Revaz Yusupov.

Since the end of May, Russia has consistently banned supplies of various products from Armenia, including alcohol, vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Russian authorities claim the measures are temporary and related to the safety of the goods. Meanwhile, in Armenia the restrictions have been called politicized.
