UEFA presidential election to be held in Astana in 2027
The 51st Congress of the Union of European Football Associations will take place in the capital of Kazakhstan on April 22.
The meeting is scheduled to elect new members of the organization's executive committee, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The Congress is UEFA's highest governing body. Representatives of all 55 national football associations, the organization's president, committee members, delegates from FIFA, European leagues, club associations and international sports structures will gather in Astana. UEFA will cover all the costs of holding the event.
Authorities note that the event will become an important step in the development of football in Kazakhstan. The country is upgrading infrastructure, developing youth sports and reforming the club management system. In the first stage of commercialization, 11 teams switched to a model involving private investors, with the volume of investment exceeding 80 billion tenge ($180 million). In the second stage, the commercialization of another eight clubs is planned.
