Undefeated Puerto Rican boxer Prichard Colón has died at the age of 34. This was reported by his father and trainer, Richard Colón, on his Facebook page.
"I regret to inform you of the departure of my son Prichard from this world. He is now in a better place," he wrote.
Colón ended his professional career after a severe injury sustained in October 2015 in a fight with American Terrel Williams. After the bout, during which his opponent repeatedly landed illegal blows to the back of Colón's head, the Puerto Rican was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma and underwent emergency surgery.
Before the injury, Colón had not lost any of his 16 professional fights, winning 13 by knockout.
After the surgery, he spent 221 days in a coma and spent the rest of his life recovering from the consequences of the injury.
