Duncan Norman: The United Kingdom intends to deepen defense cooperation with Azerbaijan
The United Kingdom intends to further deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of defense and security.
As BR reports, this was stated at a press conference by the new British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Duncan Norman.
According to the diplomat, Azerbaijan also remains an important partner in the field of defense and security, and bilateral cooperation in this area has today reached an unprecedented level:
"We seek to further deepen cooperation in the defense sphere through training, closer defense ties, and opportunities for cooperation that will allow Azerbaijan to draw on the United Kingdom's defense experience while supporting its own capabilities."
The ambassador noted that the United Kingdom is proud to be one of the first international partners providing support for demining activities in Azerbaijan.
"We look forward to continuing this support in order to ensure the safe return of former internally displaced persons," he emphasized.
According to him, the United Kingdom also cooperates with Azerbaijan's law enforcement agencies in the fight against organized crime.
"We work with Azerbaijan's law enforcement agencies in combating organized crime, including drug trafficking, illegal migration, and cybercrime. The United Kingdom is proud to be able to share its experience, as well as to draw on the extensive experience and capabilities of Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies, so that both countries benefit from closer cooperation," the ambassador said.
