German Finance Ministry estimates the volume of Russian assets frozen in the country at €3.51 billion
The total amount of Russian assets frozen in Germany under European Union sanctions is currently estimated at about €3.51 billion.
These figures were provided to a TASS correspondent by the German Finance Ministry.
"The total value of assets of individuals, organizations and institutions frozen or immobilized in Germany on the basis of EU regulations 269/2014, 833/2014 and 2024/2642 <...> currently amounts to about 3.51 billion euros," the agency noted.
"It covers the frozen funds and economic resources of listed persons or entities, as well as the confirmed foreign assets of the Russian Central Bank located in the country, which are subject to a transaction ban," the Finance Ministry explained. The agency specified that the amount may vary depending on the valuation method.
The EU and the Group of Seven countries have frozen about €300 billion in Russian assets.
About €180 billion is held in the Belgian depository Euroclear. The European Commission is seeking to obtain the consent of EU countries to use Russian assets for Ukraine. Earlier, the EU was unable to reach an agreement on a "reparations loan" to Ukraine funded by the blocked Russian assets.
