Turkish Ministry of Defense: the disbandment of the SDF will strengthen Syria's territorial integrity
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense welcomed the disbandment of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and their integration into Syria's state structures, calling it an important development for preserving the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for strengthening the principle of "one state, one army."
The ministry noted that the Turkish Armed Forces will continue to provide support to Syria under the existing military cooperation agreement.
"Our Armed Forces will continue their support within the framework of the existing military cooperation agreement in order to extend the positive momentum achieved in Syria to the entire country, ensure long-term stability and strengthen the capabilities of the Syrian army, especially in the fight against terrorism," the Ministry of Defense stated.
The Ministry of Defense also indicated that Ankara is closely following Israel's attacks on Syria, emphasizing the need for their swift cessation.
In addition, the ministry stated that Turkey is monitoring U.S. efforts to create a de-escalation mechanism involving Syria.
The Turkish defense ministry gave a positive assessment of the decision to relocate Patriot air defense systems from the island of Karpathos to Crete, calling it "a positive step toward abandoning the previous erroneous practice."
