Kazakhstan's government resigns

Kazakhstan's government has resigned in connection with the start of work of the country's new unicameral parliament (the Kurultai).

Members of the government will serve in their posts until a new cabinet lineup is approved, according to a decree by the republic's president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

As follows from the decree, the government is obliged to resign before the new composition of the Kurultai in accordance with Article 69 of the country's constitution. "I hereby decree: the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall perform its duties until the approval of the new composition of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the document says.

The decree entered into force on the day of its signing. Earlier, Tokayev also announced some changes in the composition of the government.
