Lionel Messi moves into second place in history for goals from free kicks
Inter Miami's Argentine forward Lionel Messi has moved into second place in football history for the number of goals scored from direct free kicks.
On the night of August 29–30, Inter routed Club de Foot Montréal 7:1, and Messi netted four goals, scoring twice from set pieces. The forward now has 74 goals from free kicks. The list is headed by Marcelinho Carioca with 78 goals, third place is shared by Jair Rosa Pinto and Roberto Dinamite (also with 74 each), and fifth place is held by Juninho Pernambucano (72).
