Americans plan their vacations around the release of GTA VI

Americans are saving up paid vacation days to use them after the release of the video game Grand Theft Auto VI.

As 1news.az reports, this was written by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

According to the newspaper, managers need to prepare for a "work blackout." Thirteen years have passed since the release of the previous game in the GTA series, and in honor of the new installment's appearance on November 19, gamers have decided to arrange an "unofficial holiday" for themselves, WSJ writes. One of the newspaper's interviewees said that for the sake of the game he plans not only to take a vacation, but also to prepare food several days in advance.

As the magazine Variety previously wrote, a U.S. Army infantry division based at Fort Stewart in the state of Georgia is offering service members four days of leave to play GTA VI after extending their contract by at least two years. Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko told WSJ that as of now 44 out of 130 service members from an engineer battalion have extended their contracts thanks to the offer of days off.

The fifth part of the GTA series came out 12 years ago and is the second best-selling video game in the world (more than 185 million copies) after Minecraft (more than 300 million).
