Axios reports U.S. strikes on two tankers and 100 targets in Iran
The United States attacked two Iranian tankers; in total, the American military struck more than 100 facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of Iran's armed forces) on Tuesday.
This was reported by the Axios portal, citing sources in the White House.
According to their information, the operation is the beginning of a new tactic by the U.S. administration based on the principle of "a tanker for a tanker." In this way, the White House hopes to reduce the intensity of Iran's military activity in the Strait of Hormuz, the portal explains. It cites data according to which the new strikes by the U.S. Armed Forces "ensured for at least a month" a reduction of the threat to merchant ships in the strait.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Central Command reported a series of strikes on Iran, including IRGC facilities, air defenses, radars, and mine-laying equipment.
