Russia will not initiate a downgrade of diplomatic relations with Germany - Peskov
Moscow will not initiate a downgrade of diplomatic relations with Berlin, and Germany is not talking about it either, said the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports.
«At least, they are not talking about it, I do not think that we will be the initiators. But, on the other hand, it is obvious that they are now capable of any absurd steps,» Peskov said.
The Russian side believes that Germany's new anti-Russian decisions over the incident with a drone at the Leipzig airport are yet another gross mistake by the German authorities, contrary to the interests of their people. Russia denies any involvement in this incident and believes that the decisions taken by Germany to close the Russian Consulate General in Bonn and the «Russian House» in Berlin are connected with the domestic political situation in that country and, in particular, with the difficult position of Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
