Mladic's body to be delivered to Serbia

The body of the former commander of the Bosnian Serb army, General Ratko Mladic, has been taken from The Hague and is due to be delivered to Belgrade soon.

This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

"As far as I know, the body has already been taken, and it should arrive in Serbia late in the evening," Vucic told journalists.

Ratko Mladic, who commanded the army of Republika Srpska during the 1992-1995 conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, hid from international justice for 16 years and was arrested by the Serbian authorities in 2011. In November 2017, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) found the general guilty on ten of the 11 counts of the indictment, including the genocide of Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica in 1995 and violations of the laws and customs of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992-1995. Mladic was sentenced to life imprisonment and died in prison.
