Trump: The U.S. earned more than $18 billion from the 2026 World Cup

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the 2026 FIFA World Cup brought the American economy more than $18 billion.

As 1news.az reports, the head of the White House wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.

He also noted that thanks to hosting the World Cup, more than 160,000 jobs were created in the country.

"The World Cup alone brought our economy more than $18 billion and provided work for over 160,000 people!" Trump pointed out.

The 2026 World Cup took place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The tournament was historic, as 48 national teams took part in it for the first time. Shortly before that, FIFA head Gianni Infantino, in an interview with the portal Blue Sport, allowed that the international federation may examine the question of expanding the number of World Cup participants to 64 teams.
